Container Hotel Approved Near Bristol International Airport

Nodpod container hotel

Planning permission was secured for a 30-bed containerised hotel located opposite the entrance to Bristol International Airport.

The unorthodox development sits within the Green Belt where there is a presumption against development. Despite its Green Belt location, where development is typically restricted, the project was approved on the basis that the site is previously developed land, once occupied by a school.

Designed by 105 West Architects, the innovative scheme features repurposed shipping containers, or ‘capsules’, offering overnight accommodation. Its proximity to the terminal makes it well-suited for early travellers and airline crew waiting for their next destination.

The project is expected to regenerate the underused site and meet strong demand for local lodging. Operated by local company Nodpod, the hotel reflects a commitment to community-rooted development.
